What does prayer coverage cost?

Some companies are large enough to hire a full-time intercessor. Pay someone twenty-five dollars an hour, plus benefits, costs about $65,000 a year.

But one person often can't sustain the load for long. One organization I know brought on a dedicated intercessor. He lasted about six months, pouring out, and then quit, exhausted. Years later, their current prayer coordinator said she could still feel the wave of grace that he had released.

So one person can do a great deal, but one person also burns out.

Because prayer people don't only work by the clock. We wake in the night and pray. We're reachable by text or email most hours of the day or night, because this is a calling, not a time to clock in.

And because we're a team, coverage doesn't stop when one of us goes on vacation. We pray through the year, Thanksgiving and Christmas included.

Add it all up, and a single month of Workplace Prayer coverage comes to somewhere between four and five hundred hours of prayer. A devoted individual might pray a hundred and sixty hours in a month. So you're not getting one intercessor. You're getting the equivalent of about three, every month, all year long.

Three full-time intercessors would cost close to $200,000. Most organizations don't have that sitting unused in the budget.

But that is what we provide for each client.

A prayer meeting like no other

After two years of praying for clients, we opened our weekly prayer calls to them. Bob has led tens of thousands of prayer meetings across forty years, and he worked out a unique format, one where everyone can pray, and no one has to be an expert.

One client came to us having hated God since his teens. We got to hear his first prayer back: "I just want to say thank you, Jesus. Amen." The next week he prayed a verse he thought was for him. (It was. Proverbs 3:5-6.)

Most of us have sat in "prayer meetings" that were really twenty-five minutes of describing requests and five minutes of praying. This is the opposite: a conference call where we pray the entire time.

You can join these calls if you want to. You never have to. There is no extra charge. A half-hour with an expert of Bob's caliber would ordinarily cost plenty, but here it is simply a benefit of being with us.

Why Bob's time counts

We don't usually think of prayer as a craft you can grow in. But it is, and Bob has.

Forty years with one prayer: Lord, teach me to pray. A library of twelve hundred books on the subject. Friends who tell him they've never met anyone else who has stayed this singularly devoted to prayer for this long.

If Tom Brady ran a clinic for young quarterbacks, his time would be worth something, because he spent a lifetime honing his craft.

We accept this idea of expertise in most fields. A specialized accountant can charge $500 an hour. A high level attorney can charge $4,000 an hour. Honed expertise.

Bob sits at the top of his craft, and on those weekly calls he teaches for free.

A word meant for you

Here's the part I can't really price.

Every month, our business clients receive a personal prophetic word: a few paragraphs, specific and purposeful, from a trained prophetic team asking one question, Lord, what are you saying over this person, this work?

A full prophetic report from an outside ministry can run fifteen hundred dollars.

We don't offer anything so elaborate. Rather, ours are shorter, and aimed, and they arrive every month without asking.

And the price was never the point. The remarkable thing about a word from heaven is how hard it is to come by at all.

How do you even find a church that offers this? I went to church every Sunday for more than forty years, and had to go to a conference out of state before I received my first prophetic word.

Most believers go a lifetime without one. Our clients get one every month.

So what does it cost?

Here is the number I promised you.

Business coverage starts at three hundred dollars a month, and scales with the size and season of your business. For start-ups, ministries, and families seeking coverage, we flex, because we would rather cover you than turn you away over the number.

That is less than most businesses would pay for a single part-time hire. And for it you receive the equivalent of three full-time intercessors, a personal prophetic word each month, and a seat in prayer training whenever you want it.

Our pricing doesn't fully cover what this costs us to do. We've kept it reachable on purpose. It has never been about the margin.

One more word about money and prayer

You cannot buy a word from heaven, and we would never sell one.

But it has always been right to support those devoted to prayer. When Saul went looking for Samuel to hear from God, he worried he had nothing to bring, and his servant said, don't worry, I have something for the man of God. They brought a gift, and Saul received a word that changed the course of his life.

That's all this is. You're not buying God's answer. You're making it possible for people to give their days to seeking it on your behalf.
